The details

What we are not

Independent research, models, opinions and convictions. Not investment advice. SURVYR. is not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, does not invest or manage money, and does not sell investment advice. SURVYR. is not responsible for any losses, including loss of capital, from use of this information. All investing involves risk, including loss of principal. Past and hypothetical results do not guarantee future results. Our models can be wrong. Holdings and ideas may be highly aggressive, speculative, out of date, or wrong at times. SURVYR. Systematic Research publishes research, model portfolios and tools for information only. We do not take clients, accept or hold money, or recommend that anyone buy or sell a security. Model portfolios are research, not accounts.

SURVYR. is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the SEC, the U.S. House of Representatives, any fund, company, or person shown, or any data provider (including Yahoo Finance and Alpaca). Fund holdings come from public SEC filings; congressional trades from public House disclosures.

How the models are built

Each model is a written rule, for example "the 15 S&P 500 stocks with the strongest 12-month gains, skipping the latest month, rebalanced monthly." Signals are generated on a fixed schedule and saved with the date they were made. Rules-based models follow their signals. Hand-built portfolios like the Long Book are edited by the author, and every change is logged as a dated rebalance. Rules are developed on earlier data and evaluated out-of-sample on 2022 to 2026 data they were not tuned on.

Live results vs backtests

Live returns count only from the day a portfolio was published and are tracked from daily closing prices. Backtest and Look-back figures are hypothetical: they show how a rule, or today's holdings, would have performed in the past. Backtests include 10 bps trading costs per side and count a stock only while it was in the index; companies later acquired or delisted are still missing, so some survivorship bias remains. Past results do not predict future returns.

Fund holdings (13F filings)

Institutional managers above $100M must report their U.S. stock holdings to the SEC each quarter on Form 13F. Filings arrive up to 45 days after quarter-end, so each copy reflects reported holdings as of that quarter, not current positions. Long stock positions only; options and short positions are not reported.
