Models and backtests

• Model portfolios are hypothetical. No money is invested in them, and their results don't reflect real trading, fees, taxes, spreads or slippage.
• Backtests apply today's rules to past prices with hindsight. Companies later acquired or delisted are missing (survivorship bias), which flatters results, most of all for smaller companies.
• The live track record starts on the date shown for each model; anything before that is a backtest.
• Rules can change. Changes are dated in each model's notes.

Calculator results are hypothetical illustrations based on the assumptions shown, not predictions or recommendations.

• Congressional trades: U.S. House Clerk financial disclosures, shown for public information.
• Economic data: U.S. Treasury, Federal Reserve, BLS and BEA; series obtained from FRED®, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. FRED doesn't sponsor or endorse SURVYR..
• Short interest and short-sale volume: FINRA, the owner and source of that data. Shown free of charge for non-commercial use.
• Futures positioning: CFTC Commitments of Traders (public domain).
