How headlines are chosen

Headlines link to their publishers. Stock-market stories only. Pictures are each article's own image from the publisher (feed or page preview image); a story without one is shown as text only. Top News ranks stories by how widely they are covered (near-duplicate headlines are grouped), recency and whether they involve major companies. Sectors come from the GICS sector of the companies a story names (a story can have more than one); stories that name no company are tagged from keywords. Sources: CNBC, MarketWatch, Nasdaq, Investing.com, BBC Business, OilPrice.com (public RSS) and Yahoo Finance. Tags are automatic and can be wrong. Institutional, Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Private Credit and Earnings tabs: Hedgeweek, Private Equity Wire, Institutional Investor, Institutional Asset Manager, Chief Investment Officer, ValueWalk, Yahoo Finance (headlines for BX, KKR, APO, CG, ARES, OWL, BXSL, MAIN, ARCC, OBDC, FSK and BLK), CNBC, MarketWatch, WSJ Markets, Seeking Alpha, Nasdaq, Business Insider, FT, Bloomberg, Investing.com, SEC press and litigation releases and Federal Reserve press releases (RSS; general market feeds add only the stories that match a tab); PE Hub, Private Equity International, Private Debt Investor, Buyouts, Infrastructure Investor, With Intelligence, Pensions & Investments, PitchBook, eFinancialCareers and Bloomberg, Reuters, WSJ, FT, CNBC, Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, Barron's, Barchart, Seeking Alpha, Morningstar, Motley Fool and Zacks coverage (Google News, with Bing News when Google refuses); SEC EDGAR filings (13F-HR, Schedule 13D, Form D, N-2, 8-K Item 2.02; small fund Form D notices are grouped under Recent fund filings); the Nasdaq earnings calendar (consensus EPS as Nasdaq publishes it). No single outlet fills more than about a third of the top 20 rows of a tab. Search queries Google News, Bing News and SEC full-text search live. "What they're saying" shows only sentences quoted word for word from an article, a feed or a filing. MTD = month-to-date return of each model's current holdings (hypothetical, before costs).
