• Compare mixes shows hypothetical blends of past daily closing prices for the two or three funds or tickers you enter, in the order you enter them. It never picks, ranks or highlights a blend, and none of them is a recommendation.
• Rebalanced monthly: the blend is reset to its weights at the close of each month's first trading day. Never: the starting weights drift with prices.
• Price returns only: dividends, trading costs and taxes are left out (a fund's own expense ratio is already reflected in its price).
• The window starts on the first day every entered ticker has a price. Coteau's public price history covers about two years, which is a short and unusual sample; past returns don't predict future results.
• Sharpe ratio = (annualized return minus the risk-free rate) / annualized volatility, using the risk-free rate shown on the page.
• Every number is hypothetical and depends entirely on what you enter. Small changes in assumptions can change results a lot.
• Returns are smooth and constant in the single-number projection; real returns vary every year, and real markets can do better or worse than anything shown.
• Inflation is a single constant rate you choose (except in historical replays, which use the actual CPI of each year).
• Growth compounds monthly (or at the contribution frequency) and contributions are made at the end of each period.
• No taxes unless you turn on the simplified tax drag (all positive growth taxed each year at your rate, which overstates tax for buy-and-hold). No fees unless you set one.
• Inputs stay in your browser. Saving uses this device's local storage; a share link contains the numbers you entered, so anyone with the link can see them.
